Sr. Anna-Kaarina and Rev. Matti Palmu, "The Palmus of Ethiopia", have served as missionaries the Ethiopian Evangelical (Lutheran) Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY) 1974-1993, 2000-2005, and lately since the end of 2006, now on their 10th working period. Until 1993 they were in Ethiopia as a whole family; out of four children three were born in Ethiopia. In the beginning of the year 2000 the Palmus returned to Ethiopia as an "old couple". That time the children didn't any more follow the parents; nowadays all children of them are married, and in 2006 there are already four grandchildren in the family.
On this Homepage you may get information about the life and work of the Palmus - mainly in Finnish, thou. Since the year of 2000 they have been developing the Family Life Education Program (FLEP) of the Mekane Yesus Church. That means their field of service is Family Ministry, the work concentrated on Marriage and Family. |
